What is included
Every spay and neuter here gets
All of these are included as standard. They are also why the same procedure costs different amounts at different hospitals.
- Pre-anesthetic bloodwork, read in our own laboratory
- An individualized anesthetic protocol rather than one dose for every patient
- Continuous monitoring: ECG (heart rhythm), blood pressure, capnography (breathing) and pulse oximetry (oxygen level)
- Active warming to support body temperature throughout
- Multimodal pain management (more than one kind of pain relief) before, during and after surgery
- A personalized recovery plan and detailed written discharge instructions
Animal Republic is AAHA-accredited, and anesthesia and surgical protocols are among the areas that accreditation inspects. More about AAHA
What we do
Dogs and Cats, Males and Females
Spay and neuter procedures are part of the reproductive surgery we perform at Animal Republic, along with cesarean sections, pyometra surgery, and cryptorchid surgery. That surgical experience matters when a procedure expected to be routine turns out to be more complicated.
When Should My Pet Be Spayed or Neutered?
There is no single right age for every pet. Timing should be individualized based on species, breed, size, sex, health, and lifestyle.
For many small- and medium-breed dogs, 6 to 12 months may be appropriate. For large and giant breeds, we may recommend waiting until closer to skeletal maturity, often 12 to 18 months or longer. For cats, spaying or neutering is typically recommended at around 5 to 6 months of age.
Schedule a consultation and we’ll recommend the timing that makes the most sense for your individual pet.

Cost
What It Costs — and Why It Varies
Every patient is different. Spaying a 4 kg cat is not the same as spaying a 45 kg dog — anesthetic needs, surgical time, medications, and recovery care can all vary.
That’s why we provide a personalized written estimate after examining your pet, rather than giving you a number over the phone that may not be accurate.
If cost is a concern, please let us know during your consultation. We’re happy to discuss the estimate with you and explain the options available. What’s included in a surgical estimate

Is the anesthetic safe?
Every surgical patient receives an individualized anesthetic protocol with continuous monitoring — ECG (heart rhythm), blood pressure, capnography (breathing) and pulse oximetry (oxygen level) — plus active warming to support body temperature. Animal Republic is AAHA-accredited, and anesthetic monitoring is one of the standards that accreditation covers.
